The Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountains of the Moon,” are a spectacular mountain range located along the Uganda–DR Congo border in western Uganda. Renowned for their snow-capped peaks, glaciers, waterfalls, and unique alpine vegetation, they offer one of Africa’s most dramatic hiking experiences.
The range is home to Margherita Peak (5,109m) on Mount Stanley — the third-highest summit in Africa. Trekkers pass through diverse ecosystems, from tropical rainforest to bamboo forest and giant lobelia-filled alpine zones.
