Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Drive to Volcanoes National Park
Welcome to Rwanda! Upon arrival in Kigali, your guide will meet you for a short briefing before we depart for the northwest of the country. The 2 to 3-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park winds through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside—green hills layered with terraced farms, misty valleys, and friendly rural communities. It’s easy to see why Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
As the dramatic Virunga volcanoes begin to dominate the skyline, we’ll arrive in the Musanze region and settle into our lodge on the edge of the park. Enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by mountain air as you prepare for your incredible gorilla trek the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Optional Cultural Experience

The hike can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location—but every step is worth it. The trail winds through bamboo forests and lush hills, filled with birdsong and fresh mountain air. Then comes the moment you’ll never forget: observing mountain gorillas in the wild. You’ll spend a magical hour quietly watching as they feed, play, and interact—one of Africa’s most powerful wildlife experiences.
Optional Cultural Visit:
After the trek, you may choose to visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Here, local communities share stories, dances, and traditions that celebrate Rwanda’s cultural heritage. You’ll learn about traditional medicine, banana brewing, and rural life through an immersive, respectful exchange.
Return to your lodge in the evening for a warm dinner and well-deserved rest.
